Band of Outsiders

Band Of Outsiders return for another seasonal collaboration with Sperry Topsider, once again creating some interesting variations with the iconic deck shoe design. This season’s Authentic Original is constructed from a lightweight nylon upper with plush suede accents and contrast-colored panels, retaining the pinstripe cotton lining and hook eyelet that has become synonymous with the range. These are now available through End Clothing.

Fred Perry this summer

S&M always brings you the best of Fred Perry. Well, we haven't seen much on them in recent months so here's a sneak preview of what's out for the summer time...

Anyone else get the feeling the Paul Smith influence on cycling has taken effect on other great British brands? Just a thought...

From the battlefield to the Factory: Private Jack White V.C

Private Jack White V.C is one of the great pioneers of the UK garment making industry. His Heroic exploits during the First World War at the tender age of 20 earned him a Vitoria Cross (V.S) and made him a national hero.
After The Great War, and having received his V.C. from King George V at Buckingham Palace he embarked on an apprenticeship as a pattern cutter at a local raincoat factory. For the next 35 years, Jack dedicated his life to developing his craft and enhancing his Factory’s reputation as one of the leading producers of men’s apparel in the UK.
Since his untimely death time in 1949, the factory has remained under his family’s ownership and it is currently managed by his Great-Grandson and the rest of the family.

The 3FS on tour: Fashion in Rome

If you're in Rome and you like fashion, catch the metro to Spagna. The area around the Spanish steps has lots of great ice cream parlours and even some English influenced Tea Rooms. The only black and white McDonalds is on this street and the adjacent street holds the top fashion houses as shown below. There aren't too many photos because as you know, we like shopping too. But there is also Hermes, Tom Ford and Church's of Northampton.

The 3FS on tour: Rome day 5

Friday was our final day, so we decided to tone it down and relax a little. We returned to the Maxxi to visit the library again. We made our views known on the 'Architecture you like' board. We then walked to Renzo Piano's Parco della Musica (or Beetle buildings as we referred to them). The concept of building around an archaeological dig was a nice way to end a week that consisted of trips to sites from the 1st century AD, all the way to contemporary 21st century architecture.

Thanks for following The 3FS. One last post on Rome coming tomorrow for our fashion followers...

The 3FS on tour: Rome day 4 pt. 2

The long museum rooms created a huge suspense as we got closer to the Sistine Chapel, and it was definitely worth the wait. The scale isn't as apparent in the photos and the only recommendation is to go there and experience it yourself. After leaving the museum, we went around to St. Peter's basilica. The surrounding area is just as beautiful as inside and the views from the roof were amazing. The greenery inside the Vatican walls is the Pope's estate, wow!

The 3FS on tour: Rome day 4 pt. 1

Day four began with a visit to Vatican City, firstly to the Vatican Museums. The courtyard that Bernini designed for Julius the second had a cool modern gold spherical sculpture in it, as well as the ancient sculpture of the pine-cone and two peacocks. Inside the museum there were many more great sculptures of animals and emperors. We made our way through towards the Raphael collection and Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel (pt. 2)...
