TRIBECA REPORT

Burberry and Brits abroad.

Trench coats and a hologram cat walk show for Burberry in Beijing...

Douglas Booth has some serious style.

But let's not forget other British icons abroad. David Beckham just sat at a basketball game chilling in the US with a plain black tee on... and a Rolex Oyster (all gold) Ouch! Keep representing the nation guys.

Dream Destinations: Lake Como, Italy

After a short converstation amongst members of the 3FS team on holidays and dream desitnations we thought we'd share with you one of the laces that sprang up.. Lake Como, Italy. A dream destination it truely is.

The most famous lakes in Italy are in the Italian Lake District, in the north of the country not far from the Alps. That anglicised description is evocative of the area's poetic and literary connections. Beloved of the romantic poets as well as later writers, statesmen and royalty, the northern Italian lakes are beautiful and atmospheric, where mountains descend to meet the lakeshore, and stately grand Villas dominate pretty lakeside towns.

Mulberry A/W11

A mathematical guide to the key inspirations and references in designers' collections by Laura Bradley, illustrated by Tom Baxter

Mulberry's references are usually deep rooted in British culture and autumn/winter 2011 was no exception with creative director Emma Hill citing Fantastic Mr Fox and jockeys as her inspirations. The house is also known for its love of dogs, and this season saw models accompanied on the catwalk by German Schnauzers.

Mr. Burt “Fashion Crowd” Illustrations

Illustrator Mr. Burt presents his latest series, entitled “Fashion Crowd”. For the moment the series features refreshing takes on Anna Winttour, Karl Lagerfeld, John Galliano and Andre Leon Talley. Its amazing how such simple shapes can produce such recognisable personalities.

Influential times: Modernism

We must remember from time to time, movements in design that influence how we design today.

Whether it's the chair designs of Charles and Ray Eames, Harry Bertoia or Verner Panton, clocks of George Nelson, cushions of Alexander Girard, art work of Richard Hamilton or Gerrit Rietveld... Or the architecture of Le Corbusier or Frank Lloyd Wright.

We take the wise words of Mies Van der Rohe very seriously, "Less is More."

Supreme Exposure

Supreme

Spring/Summer has brought round a veritable feast of colaborations for
Supreme, a label that has until now shied away from the bright lights of
the main stream. Launched in 1994 the label focused on skate boards, caps
and easy wearing apperal, aimed at the ever growing skate boarding
community, quite a far cry from the recent events that feature a photo
shoot with one of the worlds biggest pop stars Lady Gaga as well as
collaborations with Thom Browne and Playboy.

This venture in to the popular has left some hardcore fans of the brand
feeling let down, is this a case of another brand betraying its roots or
the natural progression of a clothing label trying to break barriers time
will only tell.

A Grand Gesture

Ralph Lauren

Dreaming impossible dreams and making them come true....
Text by Mitchell Owens/Photography by Joshua McHugh

Back in the 1970s, Lauren often gazed upon the Renaissance Revival château that heiress Gertrude Rhinelander Waldo built for herself in 1898, on Madison Avenue at 72nd Street, and imagined the largely unused house aglow with light and filled with people. That’s precisely what happened after Lauren made it his American flagship in 1986, following a three-year restoration that, he says, “made it more beautiful than it ever was.” read more at...
